Blugrass fest and updates

This weekend we are going camping for the 2nd time this year thanks to our great neighbor Liz who comes from 2 blocks away to take care of the chickens. Now that is neighborhood community for you. We are headed to the Minnesota Bluegrass and old-time music festival near St. Cloud to hang out with the Zahns again and catch up.

We picked up 2 new hens and yes they are hens to replace the roosters we had to part with. The garden is coming into full productivity and we are going to be canning some stores this week of tomatoes, beans, and some blueberry jam of which the berries we did not produce, but are local.

Heidi is working a fair bit for her old or should I say not so old boss and my job search is not going well at all, but I keep plugging away.

We're looking forward to seeing you at the festival! Bring lawn chairs and/or a blanket for the kids. We were thinking we'd cook up a big pot of pasta for Friday evening, and share with you guys. I don't know if we can get fresh tomatoes up here yet--they're moving awfully slow with this cold weather we've had. We'll figure out something...
