Cool trading party

Yesterday we used up some of our saved up carbon to drive out to Stillwater to buy a Christmas tree from a local vendor who claims to use sustainable practices and to attend a trading party that our mailman introduced us to. He sometimes trades us goat milk for pies, quiches, or bread and his Wife had him invite us to this party. We brought 4 smaller loaves of break, a dozen eggs, and two batches of cookies the boys made for trade. After introducing what everyone had, the maybe 20 people not including kids milled about offering this for that and so forth. We traded everything and ended up with some good stuff:
2 loaves of pumpkin bread
a skein of hand spun wool yarn
lots of greens (mustard, etc.)
a ceramic tortilla warmer
half-pint of blueberry jam
The boys traded cookies for other cookies, a slice of homemade cheesecake, some solar recharging glow sticks, and some raspberries.

This weekends plans are canning pears, strawberry jam, transferring Heidi's wine to the secondary fermenter and bottling my beer. Also started work on my new neighbors house doing the internal framing.

A trading party is great idea. What a nice way to meet like minded people and trade for items needed.
