Obama and the Kim Stanley Robinson climate trilogy

I just finished reading the climate trilogy from Kim Stanley Robinson that consists of the following books:
Forty signs of rain
Fifty degrees below
Sixty days and counting

Basic idea is about a group of scientists and politicians who are trying to stop climate change driven disasters. One of the major characters is s Senator named Phil Chase who becomes President at the end of 2nd book. His character reminds me of President Elect Obama in where he could take our country if he chose to and before the issues in this series come to fruition. I hope he has the ability and strength to address our climate issues with things other offshore drilling, alternative fuels, and other ideas. As a society, we need to realize that we consume far more than we produce since this is the answer to a large part of our energy issues. For now, we keep driving less, growing more, and reducing our impact on the world.
Namaste,
The Quinces
